Kanye is an A$$hole for His VMA Antics

Before last night’s MTV Video Music Awards I was a pretty big fan of Kanye West. After all, not only is the beat maker/MC one of the most talented artists in music, but he is also from my neck of the woods, you know, the rugged Midwest. But now I am starting to question if Kanye deserves my hard earned money. I mean, it was kinda of funny the first time he jumped on the stage to steal his peer’s shine, but now its just way too much.

While I have never heard of Taylor Swift before the VMAs, she definitely didn’t deserve to be interrupted by Yezzy. Props to Beyonce for having enough class to let her eventually get her shine.

Word to Ronald Reagan, that super male ego stuff is so 20th century. Humility and patience are important characteristics needed by all true leaders (which Kanye is). Forget about college, Mr West must have dropped out of kindergarten.

Yeah Beyonce showed real character lettin Taylor have a Take 2 on her acceptance speech. That + Single Ladies (put a ring on it), seems like Beyonce is tryin to be a true role model, admirable.

First off I’ve never been much of a Kanye fan. His productions often came off as straight up pop and his status as a “conscious rapper” always confused me when compared to the likes of Common or Talib Kweli.

However, this really doesn’t seem like that big a deal to me. So a celebrity made an ass of himself. Ok. So now people want to boycott him? On what grounds? That he’s an arrogant celebrity who does stupid shit? Where were the calls to boycott Britney when she was driving around with a baby on her lap and a cigarette in her hand? Where are the calls to boycott the rampant homophobia in hip hop that Kanye spoke of?

What was so offensive about this incident? Kanye West, a black man, publicly embarrassed a white girl. Of course! The ultimate offense! He must pay! Don’t buy his albums anymore, because he has crossed the line from which there’s no coming back from.

Those who doubt that this boycott is anything less than a racially motivated Beck boycott reversal need only take a look at the comments found in the youtube videos of this incident, or the comments on Rolling Stone’s website.
