1st Grader Gets Her Braid Cut by Teacher

girl-with-braids

There isn’t enough real talk about our teachers’ ability or inability to constructively mange classroom stress. Daily cases of abuse, large and small, go undisclosed perpetrated from both teachers and students without resolve or prosecution. Our schools are dominated by a culture of miscommunication and disrespect, that culture will and is inevitably dictating the type of culture our children will expect to create and duplicate.

Is this the complete pendulum swing from the days when teachers were allowed (if not encouraged) to inflict corporal punishment inside the classroom….or is this a sign of the type of domestic lives we are living…is the classroom imitating life or is life imitating the classroom? I think guidelines of discipline have to be agreed upon by the school board and mounted on the wall next to the chalkboard so students and teachers know and can see there rights….in black and white.

The Milwaukee Jobs Act is a really big deal. If jobs aren’t distributed with urgency, complete pandemonium is going to break out. Although there were some minor technical glitches, #AsktheCandidate, the interactive candidate forum hosted by the WI-League of Young Voters and dozens of partner organizations, was a huge success. Not only did 14 of Milwaukee’s local candidates participate in this youth-driven candidate forum, held in the Bradley Center’s fourth street atrium, but the event also trended [...]
