Harry Reid Racist or Another Case of When Keeping it Real Goes Wrong?
Over the weekend the Republican party pounced on Harry Reid for racially insensitive comments he made about Barack Obama during the 2008 Presidential race. Apparently, Reid got a little beside himself and starting talking as if he was still in the 20th Century, suggesting that Barack Obama “could be elected president because he is “light skinned” and lacks “Negro dialect, unless he wanted to have one.” Reid has moved quickly to show contrition after a new book, “Game Change” by journalists John Heilemann and Mark Halperin revealed that he made comments in 2008
Republican leaders have argued that Reid should step down. On Sunday’s “Meet the Press”, GOP boss Michael Steele even stated that Reid’s comments were comparable to former Senator Trent Lott’s 2002 gaff. On December 20, 2002, after significant controversy following what were viewed by some as racially insensitive comments regarding Strom Thurmond’s presidential candidacy, Lott resigned as Senate Minority Leader in the Senate.
But what do you think? Is Reid racist? President Obama has pretty much stated it was a non-issue. Sorta sounds like Reid was just keeping it real. He prolly shouldn’t have called him a Negro, but Obama does code switch like a mu’fer!

I think this is a case of when keepin it real goes wrong, he should’ve been more aware of his circle. Now as for him stepping down? Well, to see if thats fair i think the best judge would be if the situation was reversed, would dem’s demand a repubs job?
This whole job for comment, play for control over any steps thing that the country has going now is just not going to cut it if we’re going to move forward. I mean in real life, he’s old enough to have witnessed public lynching…so him saying negro, by the standards he’s witnessed, could be considered light in some circles.
