Hugo Chavez: “The US Caused the Earthquake”

Ever since Haiti was hit by the earthquake, conspiracy theorists have been postulating that the natural disaster was man made. Well, Hugo Chavez has taken it up a notch and has actually accused the US of creating the quake. Of course, it’s hard to believe that the US is that sinister, but according to Wired, man made earth quakes are pretty normal. “The human production of earthquakes is hardly supervillain-worthy. It’s downright commonplace:…25 percent of Britain’s recorded seismic events were caused by people.

While this conspiracy theory seems far fetched, it is a bit scary to know that earthquakes can be caused by humans. Let’s just hope Lex Luther doesn’t get hold of this technology.

Check the video of Chavez pointing the finger after the jump and let us know if you think Chavez is crazy?

I did my own little research trying to locate the source of this remarkable news. All I found was the same video referring to the ABC paper “quoting Chavez saying that blah blah…”. But then, there is something behind the story, because I also found an anonymous “Articulo de Opinion” (which is by no means an official statement by the Head of Venezolan state) suggesting the theory that US Navy was responsible for the quake, at “Vive’s” website. (The article quotes no sources justifying the allegations therein). Vive is a state owned tv channel and the whole story seems to have originated by one of its reporters with strong imagination and little, if any, care to do serious research based on strong evidence.
In my opinion, Chavez is a more serious person than many ppl outside Venezuela think, but he should keep an eye on some of his collaborators.
Here is the link to the article I mentioned:

The only artist that has built up this much anticipation for an album is possibly, J. Cole. This might be the most thoughtful project from an artist to date. In fact, if it isn’t, I may lose my faith in good hip-hop altogether. This isn’t the best quality of this track but is possibly the [...]

An Open Letter to President Obama: You Brought Down the Boogie Man, Now Bring Back the Hope! Congratulations Mr. President, you’ve had an amazing week. Haiti, A Year Later|99Problems.org

Seems as if Haiti is back to being Haiti’s problem just like before. Maybe everyone has forgotten what happened last January 12th. Honestly, with all the turmoil on our own soil, it’s hard for me to remember how hard the ground shook over there. But now that I think back, how can we forget about [...]
