Time to repeal the 19th Amendment? NOPE!

April 16, 2010 Front Page 1 Comment

Look at this guy. Nice hat, big ‘stache, rosy cheeks.

Turns out his views on gender are right up there with his fashion sense, I mean, it’s 1850 all the time and women should be seen but never heard.

This is Thomas Mitchell, editor of the Las Vegas Review Journal. Mitchell is going viral (ew) with an article he wrote today in which he thoughtfully, concisely, and absolutely insanely lays out his argument for why we should repeal the 19th amendment. And what, you might ask, has the 19th amendment done for America?

Here’s the original article. Go ahead, post a comment! This is popcorn Internet history in the making, folks. The controversy, thank gawd, will be over next week and then we’re back on Bieber time.

Nice find, Krysten (fellow 99p author and resident of Las Vegas.)

*Full text: “The right of citizens of the United States to vote shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any State on account of sex.”

Why Politico Wants Michelle Bachmann to be the Next Britney Spears

July 18, 2011

Don’t get me wrong; Politico is no stranger to sensationalist headlines. The blog has become successful primarily because of its ability to thrive on the minute details of D.C. gossip. They are, in essence, the TMZ of Washington. So, it shouldn’t be surprising that a story published on the site on Sunday reads like an “Inside [...]

Why do More Male Politicians Get Caught in the Act?

June 17, 2011

The New York Times proclaimed that there was a collective “here we go again” sentiment among women of the House of Representatives when the Anthony Weiner scandal broke.  Since female politicians are rarely at the center of these sex scandals, the paper questions whether it’s a gendered phenomenon. To me, it seems that men are [...]

The Women That They Love to Hate

May 24, 2011

Okay, so some dude wrote an article for Psychology Today that posed the question, “Why Are Black Women Less Physically Attractive Than Other Women?” This was the headline that sent Twitter in a rumble and led to very heated discussions amongst communities of black women in beauty shops everywhere! The “fuzzy-math” study claimed, “even though [...]
