Time For Action!!!

June 16, 2010 Front Page 1 Comment

Showing a sense of urgency, Last night, President Obama gave his first Oval Office speech to connect the dots for the American people between BP’s Gulf Coast oil disaster and our nation’s self-destructing addiction to fossil fuels:

“For decades, we have talked and talked about the need to end America’s century-long addiction to fossil fuels. And for decades, we have failed to act with the sense of urgency that this challenge requires. Time and again, the path forward has been blocked – not only by oil industry lobbyists, but also by a lack of political courage and candor… Now is the moment for this generation to embark on a national mission to unleash American innovation and seize control of our own destiny.”

So what are we waiting for? We’ve blamed the President and his administration for poorly responding to the Gulf disaster but now Obama’s leadership qualities are becoming more apparent and we must make sure he follows through with concrete action to end our addiction to fossil fuels creating millions of good, clean energy jobs here at home.

Join 1Sky in this nationwide effort to sponsor “Hands Across the Sand” on Saturday, June 26th, when groups of people will gather at beaches and communities throughout America at 11:00AM local time to send a message to the President and Congress: NO to drilling, and YES to a clean energy economy!

The action we need is to spur venture capitalists to invest in alternative fuels. The framework is there. Rallies won’t help. Partying won’t help. Buying stock in alt. fuel developers will. Get in on the ground floor and invest in America.
