[DOWNLOAD] “Betsie Mae Mixtape”

November 30, 2011 Music No Comments

I’m on a search for some of the dopest female emcees! Next stop, Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Check out the homie Betsie Mae who’s making a name for herself in the local music scene. Awhile back we featured a cypher that took place in the Mil where she participated and held her own. As far as females in hip-hop goes, the lane is pretty wide open. Check out her mixtape below and let us know if you’re feeling her music.

Is T.I. Homophobic?

November 30, 2011 Front Page No Comments

This guy sure does know how to stay in the media! T.I., who will be soon starring in his reality show entitled “Family Hustle” on VH1, is also on the cover of VIBE magazine. In light of his recent successes, VIBE interviewed T.I., where the rapper defended Tracy Morgan’s tirade on homosexuality.

You can always depend on T.I. to speak his mind and not sugar-coat anything. According to The Grio, the famous rapper let it be known that the funniest joke he ever heard was Tracy Morgan commenting that gay people don’t have the ability to take a joke. T.I. clarified his opinion upon the “over-sensitivity” of the gay community, saying:

“They’re like, ‘If you have an opinion against us, we’re gonna shut you down.’ … That’s not American. If you’re gay you should have the right to be gay in peace, and if you’re against it you should have the right to be against it in peace.”

[30 Questions] The NBA is Back!

November 30, 2011 Front Page, Sports No Comments

In case you were living under a rock the past few days, the NBA players and owners tentatively agreed to a deal – which means the NBA is back! While the league and the players’ association are still negotiating secondary issues and the players’ union still needs to reform and put the new CBA to a vote among union members, this deal is unlikely to fall apart. So this means a 66-game NBA season will begin with a triple header on Christmas Day. Also, I don’t know about you, but I can’t wait to hear Charles Barkley and Shaquille O’Neal together on TNT this season.  Until then, here are 30 questions I personally want to know for each NBA team this season.

Atlanta Hawks: How do the Hawks stay competitive after paying Joe Johnson $119 million, when no one outside of the organization believes he is worth even close to that?

Boston Celtics:  Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen are not only old and also in their last year of their contracts, but do they have one more championship push in them before they “rebuild”?

#NewMusic: Pozzie Mazerati x Guordan Banks “Get Back”

November 29, 2011 Music 2 Comments

Female emcees are a rare commodity and if you ask me, the birth of Nicki Minaj might seem a bit intimidating. However, there are a bunch of dope females emcees that are repping, despite the way that most have been depicted. For instance, you’ve got D Town’s own Invincible, the South African Jean Grae, and even Amanda Diva who’s from Inglewood but can be spotted in NY. Let’s keep the keep the momentum up ladies!

Just like the Fresh Prince, Pozzie hails from West Philly but she can be found in LA doing her music thing. Shouts out to ‘davgainz’ for the production!

[VIDEO] “Freeway” Rick Ross Speaks w/ 99Problems About Being on Papers

November 29, 2011 Music, Politics 1 Comment

Last week, I got the opportunity to hold a conversation with “Freeway” Rick Ross, who was once said to have made millions of dollars in the drug game. During the conversation, he was willing to shed light on his felony status as a result of his past, as well as his lack of support for SB-207 (a bill in Wisconsin that would allow employers to discriminate against felons). What is interesting is that although Ross has potential to be so influential in the community, he’s not allowed because of being on papers.
