My #Top15 films of 2011

December 31, 2011 Front Page 2 Comments

For those of you who don’t know, I’m a pretty big film buff as well. Here is my list in order of the Top 15 movies of 2011.

1.Midnight in Paris: This Woody Allen romantic comedy about a screenwriter in Paris who experiences magical things each night at midnight was my favorite movie of the year. Without giving the story away, the main character is forced to confront his relationship and life while experiencing the magic of Paris at night. This film is funny, charming, has a great supporting cast, and I really connected with the story. Also if you like nostalgia, see this film.

2. Rise of the Planet of the Apes: As a fan of the original Planet of the Apes series (NOT the Marky Mark version), I was looking forward to the origin story reboot and it did not disappoint. Caesar (played by Andy Serkis motion capture) is the chimp who leads the revolution against humanity that started it all. As far as summer blockbusters go, this movie had it all. Andy Serkis gives an amazing performance that really blurs the line between his acting and the special effects. Serkis should be nominated for awards, but most likely won’t be, due to the unfair bias against the motion capture technology.

Hit the jump for the rest of the list…

#NewMusic: Hassani Kwess “Kick The Bass, Chuck”

December 29, 2011 Featured Artist, Music No Comments

The DC native, Qaptain Kwess, is continuing his quest to make a name for himself, online and off. Just recently, he was featured on Asher Roth’s latest Pabst & Jazz project where he and Roth embraced the Chuck Inglish-produced melody.

Inglish speaks a language that only true artists can understand. Somewhat similar to ATCQ’s, Can I Kick It, Hassani Kwess gives the producer the permission before he asks. On this new record, Kwess talks back to Chuck creating a conversation called hip-hop. Kick the Bass, Chuck!
