DJ Willie Shakes Gets Tested!

February 11, 2012 Health No Comments

February 7, 2012 is National Black HIV/AIDS Awareness Day – a national HIV/AIDS testing and treatment community mobilization initiative designed to encourage blacks across the United States and territorial areas to get educated, get tested, get involved, and get treatment for HIV/AIDS, as it continues to devastate black communities.

In recognition of National Black HIV/AIDS Awareness Day, I went to take the rapid HIV swab test. I’m not a big fan of needles and this one is more convenient. You get the results in 20 mins. Mine were negative! Your turn…NO EXCUSES!!!

Congress Rules That Pizza Sauce Counts as a Vegetable

November 17, 2011 Health, Politics, Problems No Comments

Does that look like a healthy school lunch to you?

Do you think pizza sauce counts as a vegetable? Well, according to Congress, pizza sauce still counts as a vegetable.  It seems that Congress wants to keep pizza and french fries on school lunches across the country. Recently, the Obama administration proposed healthier school lunches, so clearly Congress disagrees with the president.

If you don’t think school lunches should be healthier, go eat one. If you can’t, you can also look at the stats which from the CDC where estimates show that about 17 percent,or 12.5 million,of children between the ages of 2 and 19 are obese. The USDA wanted to change the guidelines that would have changed the pizza sauce vegetable standards and also would have limited starchy veggies like french fries. The USDA clearly lost out to the special interest groups representing the frozen food industry that want to continue serving unhealthy foods to our children.

The 10 Cancer Commandments

October 20, 2011 Health, Problems, Solutions No Comments

Cancer has been around forever and has not shown any signs of leaving any time soon. It has killed so many. How much more will it take? How much more can we take?

Personally, I would rather be doing other things right now than to have to watch my grandmother on the frontlines battling cancer… again, from 2,000 miles away. In fact, I just got a call two days ago from my siblings telling me grandma was rushed to the hospital again for some issues due to her diagnosis. Cancer is a beast!

After the jump, the homie Chuck Creekmur from AllHipHop allows his mother Syliva, a survivor of 20 years, to give us all some rather inspiring advice on how to identify and defeat cancer… Obey These Commandments!!!

Yes you’ve heard the argument before, but now America seems to agree. A new Gallup poll shows that for the first time in history, more Americans favor legalizing marijuana than are against it. Fifty percent say that it should be legal, while 46 percent say it shouldn’t. Liberals have the highest percentage at 69 percent, young people come in next at 62 percent. Last year, a similar Gallup poll showed 70 percent favor doctors making marijuana legal for medical pain and suffering.
