Political Quick Hits: August 24th Edition

Here’s your weekly quick look at few developing stories in the political arena:
- Rep. Todd Akin of Missouri has vowed to stay in his state’s U.S. Senate race despite calls from both Republicans, including Mitt Romney, and Democrats, to drop out. Akin, who is anti-abortion in all cases, made a comment this past week where he claimed women’s bodies can fend off pregnancy in cases of “legitimate rape.” The Republican Party has already begun to distance themselves from Akin, who apologized for his comments but says he still believes he can win. This race is important because the Missouri Senate race is considered key to Republicans’ chances of being able to retake the Senate for the 2013 session. (Fox News)
