Steve Stoute recently dropped a book a few months back called, ‘The Tanning of America.’ I haven’t completed it but I have read the first couple of chapters on my iPad and I’m impressed at how much I learned so far about marketing and brands that crossed over. If marketing is something that you’re into, I can honestly recommend the first few chapters at least (LOL).
Stoute sits down with his business partner Jay Z and discusses some of his recent ventures of which a few excerpts are cited in the ‘Tanning of America.”
If anyone ever says Milwaukee isn’t home to some of the illest, brightest hip-hop artists, I’d beg to differ. Not only is there a lot of talent there but they’re trying to be as positive as they can given the circumstances. It’s hard to be positive when the murder rate is high, unemployment is high, and college tuition is high. Hell, no wonder everyone is high!
My homie AG blessed me with this joint this morning and I wanna share it with you all. It’s off of his ‘Purple Collar District’ project that’s coming soon. Lets keep it positive Milwaukee! Positive Hip Hop After The Jump
I was riding on a plane a few weeks ago and the group of white kids behind me were having a great time. So much, that when one began reciting the infamous Katt Williams joke, “this shit right here nigga,” he didn’t even bleep the N-Word, which is rare in a public setting. Were they wrong? I mean, they were just enjoying the same jokes that me and my friends find funny.
This reminds me of one of my former co-workers, who happens to be white. She does a mean Busta Rhymes impression. If it’s a Busta record, she knows his lyrics, so well, that upon recital, she is precise in bleeping the n-words he uses so frequently out of her performance. But after she does it, it’s funny and kinda weird at the same time. You know the elephant in the room feeling.
This N-word is something else. Keep Reading
For all you, “I’m not a businessman, I’m a business” men, Steve Stoute writes a book that shares all his marketing secrets. It’s called The Tanning of America and it’s already interesting from the preface, where Stoute explores his fascination with the partnering of Run DMC and Adidas! This book is all about how America isn’t just white and hip-hop isn’t just black!
If you didn’t know, Steve Stoute is responsible for a lot of marketing decisions made on behalf of Jay-Z, an artist that’s known to be all about his brand. A successful brand at that. In essence, this is Steve Stoute’s Decoded.
