What you laughin’ at?
I often find myself making other people laugh, but rarely do I ever laugh myself. Don’t get me wrong, I am generally in a pleasant, maybe even slightly silly mood, but it is not very often that I could be caught laughing hysterically. Even when I find things really funny, I tend to make a modest gesture that suggests that I was entertained and offer a slight chuckle. Is there something wrong with me? Maybe I broke my funny bone.
What is the difference between entertainment and distraction? Well, being the word nerd of the ghetto, I decided to look them both up:
•Entertainment- the act of providing or being provided with amusement or enjoyment.
•Distraction- something that prevents someone from giving full attention to something else.
See any similarities? Remember the spy movie where the hero sent the beautiful woman to entertain the goon while he snatched the merchandise? I bet he never realized how distracted he was until his boss made him a lovely pair of concrete slippers and served him a nice drink at the bottom of the Hudson. I bet you never thought about how distracting your favorite show was until you remembered you hadn’t started the 12 page essay due the next day.
