2 month’s ago, I asked, “What is Net Neutrality?” after hearing some expert on t.v. argue it’s pro’s and cons.

Wendy Bosswell says,

Net neutrality is the guiding concept behind everything that we get to do on the Web. Right now, there are no restrictions of any kind on access to content on the Web, no restrictions on downloads or uploads, and no restrictions on communication methods (email, chat, IM, etc.) Net neutrality is the assurance that access to the Web and its content will not be blocked, slowed down, or sped up depending on where that access is based or who owns the access point(s).

Conversation and Communication

July 7, 2010 Problems No Comments

Escaping Facebook Just Became That Much Harder

July 15, 2009 Front Page No Comments

It’s amazing how much our generation is addicted to Facebook–so much so that we are driving up the rate of internet usage in cell phones. A new study by CCS Insight has found that a third of 16-36 year olds access Facebook through their cell phones on a regular basis. It’s more popular than MySpace, Bebo, and Twitter combined. And the number of users is only going up; by the end of the year it’s predicted that almost 45% of youth will be accessing the net from their cells.

So not only is the stalker in all of us exponentially increased by having Facebook available at all times in our back pocket, but our addiction is lining the pockets of cell phone companies as well–accessing internet each month costs an average of $30 more than just a phone plan.

Separating the Ones from the Zeros

June 12, 2009 Front Page No Comments

Today is a historic day for American television, right up there with the Beatles on Ed Sullivan and the first time Dave Chappelle channeled Rick James.

After seventy years of analog service, the American television industry is set to switch off their analog transmitters for crisp, ultra-nerdy digital perfection.

Many people anticipate a better quality viewing experience.  Unfortunately, thousands and thousands of Americans are completely unprepared for the switch and, throughout today, will watch the weather change on their TV sets and I’m talking snow, snow, snow.
