Canibus Starts and Stops Beef w/ J. Cole

Damn! It’s a sad day in hip-hop. Canibus, who is easily noted as one of my favorite rappers of all time, just recently issued a diss record calling out J. Cole. When I saw the headlines, I ignored them because I assumed it was a slight jab and nothing to really pay attention to. However, after listening – it’s a direct diss and as a Canibus fan, I’m ashamed. I’m not ashamed of the terrible diss record as much as I am of the embarrassing apology that accompanied it. This doesn’t appear to be the same Canibus that went at LL and Eminem. But now that I think about it, even if it were the same Canibus, he’d be no match to the ever-so-relevant J. Cole.

I’m not sure if it was Cole paying homage to Canibus in the interviews that set em off (which makes no sense) or ‘bus feeling he could “make a livin off of dissin.” At the end of the day, the big homie is coppin pleas like he had a cup of humble juice. Coincidentally, he starts his apology with two rather long burps. Oh and get this, he repeats the apology more than Jay and Ye repeats N****s in Paris during the #WTT tour!

[EVENT RECAP] RedBull EmSee x Detroit

October 29, 2011 Music No Comments

The Redbull EmSee|Detroit event was a good look. Our Executive Director of the League of Young Voters, Biko Baker, took off his suit and put on some swag as he was visibly in attendance w/ last year’s champion, FowL. You might’ve spotted him in the packed crowd at St. Andrews hall but no, he wasn’t soliciting. However, the demographic that we’re constantly trying to reach were definitely in there deep! Besides the fact that Royce Da 5’9, Trick Trick & Mr Porter served as judges, Biko would’ve been an awesome addition as well, given his background as a hip=hop enthusiast.

At the end of the day, there were some notable opponents but only one winner made the headlines.

#NewMusicWednesday Lil Wayne ‘Dear Anne’

June 15, 2011 Front Page, Music No Comments

Dear Anne,
Wayne knows a lot about fans & stans because he sure does have a lot of them. Hell, he recently just pissed off some fans in Miami for jumping on the MAV’s bandwagon after they defeated the team they bet 2 Million on. So, you’re not alone.
