[WATCH] Cashmere Thoughts featuring: D.A. Wallach

December 16, 2011 milwaukee, Music No Comments

The first time I met DA Wallach, one half of Pharrell’s band Chester French/ one half of the Supa Dups, I knew I had came across a special person in the music industry. Although we were introduced on Facebook, we were from the same city which is where we eventually had our first meeting. After sitting down and discussing his music and interests, he presented me with the opportunity to tour the country with them. I accepted and thank God I did.

Simply put, DA is a genius. He knows a hell of a lot about music and the business behind it as well as African American studies, which is what he majored in while attending Harvard. If you ever get a chance to meet this guy and hold a conversation with him you’ll be blown away. In fact, now that a few years have passed, the conversation may be a little bit more interesting given his new position at Spotify, one of the world’s largest online music platforms.

Don’t take my word for it. [WATCH] Cashmere’s VP of Creative Strategy, Ryan Ford’s exclusive 5 minute interview w/ Chester French’s very own D.A. Wallach

[VIDEO] “Freeway” Rick Ross Speaks w/ 99Problems About Being on Papers

November 29, 2011 Music, Politics 1 Comment

Last week, I got the opportunity to hold a conversation with “Freeway” Rick Ross, who was once said to have made millions of dollars in the drug game. During the conversation, he was willing to shed light on his felony status as a result of his past, as well as his lack of support for SB-207 (a bill in Wisconsin that would allow employers to discriminate against felons). What is interesting is that although Ross has potential to be so influential in the community, he’s not allowed because of being on papers.

[#TanningEffect] Steve Stoute Interviews Jay-Z [Pt.1]

October 27, 2011 Music 1 Comment

Steve Stoute recently dropped a book a few months back called, ‘The Tanning of America.’ I haven’t completed it but I have read the first couple of chapters on my iPad and I’m impressed at how much I learned so far about marketing and brands that crossed over. If marketing is something that you’re into, I can honestly recommend the first few chapters at least (LOL).

Stoute sits down with his business partner Jay Z and discusses some of his recent ventures of which a few excerpts are cited in the ‘Tanning of America.”

Wayne Vs Jay Z….Nah

August 25, 2011 Music 2 Comments

How goofy is this? Millionaires beefing bout who has the most money while everyone else is broke? And here we are, still broke and taking sides. I’m riding with the illuminati on this one.

There was a time in history when D’Wayne Carter wished his name was Shawn. Remember when his swag and flow just up and changed during the Sqad Up season. Remember, Hello Brooklyn? #ImJustSayin I don’t wanna hear a Wayne and Jay battle because it won’t be fair. That’s like when the real Iron Man had to fight a souped up ass Iron Man.

Have you even heard, It’s Good, the song that has caused this discussion? This reminds me of the time the Game was taking shots at the throne while bigging up the King. However, we all might be getting ready to see what a lot of people have anticipated for years. This can get ugly too, especially when you kidnap Beyonce. The gloves come off. I truly don’t believe Wayne would man up as much as he has supported Jay-Z in the recent past, but we’ll see.

*Update from Tunechi via Vibe.com

“I know there won’t be any repercussions behind what I did,” says a confident Wayne when asked if he had second thoughts about recording his acidic verse for ‘It ‘s Good.’ “I know for a fact music is about perception. You can’t do anything but perceive what you hear. I know that for a fact. So I can’t ever be upset about someone’s reaction.”
