DEE-1|I HEAR YOU!!!!!|99Problems.org

In a minute, making good music is going to be the thing to do. That’s scary, right? Check out this guy Dee-1 , whom we featured a few couple months back and is still making his presence felt with this record/video, ‘Jay, 50, & Weezy’ where he’s sitting those same big ol heads down and holding them accountable. He, somewhat reminds me of the homie, Bizzle who made his mark, basically, doing the same with more of a religious angle.

Dee dropped a mixtape entitled, ‘I Hope They Hear Me’ not too long ago and his sophomore album David & Goliath is currently available on iTunes. Hit the jump for a sample.

MILWAUKEE: 1st of the Month Comes Early, Flood Victims Line Up For Assistance

July 26, 2010 Front Page No Comments

This morning, I took the scenic route on the way to drop my mother off at work. While on Green Bay Rd, I drove past a lot of homes that displayed destroyed remains of what used to be a basement on the front curb. It looks as if the city of Milwaukee has been evicted. A feeling of appreciation came over me but as I thought of those that were overwhelmed by Thursdays storm or the victims of Katrina, I begin to question why I was so blessed to have dodged another natural occurrence. … Continue Reading

Brentin Mock: New Orleans? NO MORE $ FOR YOU!

June 10, 2009 Front Page No Comments

In the good ol’ vein of ‘what-the-hell-is-going on’, our friend Brentin Mock highlights an interesting development in his latest column in The American Prospect.

According to published reports:
“a recent Treasury Department ruling has disqualified the Gulf Coast region from a significant portion of stimulus funding specifically set aside to help low-income housing developments languishing due to the recession”.

This ruling is HUGE. Why is New Orleans disqualified from these treasury funds?

Has it been too long?

Are people starting to forget what happened?

Check out Brentin’s piece over at The American Prospect!

FEMA: “We’ll Leave The Light On For You.”

June 4, 2009 Front Page 2 Comments

Five bucks can’t buy you much these days. A movie rental, a funny t-shirt, maybe a footlong sandwich. But in New Orleans, five bucks is going much further.

Amidst all the suffering and slow rebuilding of New Orleans, FEMA will sell hurricane victims a trailer for 5 bucks or less. If one has been living in a trailer in order to rebuild their home, the trailer they have been living in can be sold to them at low costs, rather than having to vacate them.

This is a drastic new development: as of a week or so ago, they had until the end of this month to GTFO those trailers.
