Subway Nightmares in GA and NYC

Public transportation offers a positive alternative to driving because we all know #GasIsTooDamnHigh. However, just like most pros, there is a con. Sure, you save money on parking and gas, but you may be assaulted by another passenger at any given moment or day. One of the most disturbing public transit stories I witnessed was in Atlanta when a young girl, “Soulja Girl,” cussed and threatened an elderly women through a rap song.

Continuing with those type of horrific shenanigans. this week in NY a mad man strips down completely butt naked and yells racial slurs about “Niggers and Jews” while chasing them like duck,duck, goose. The transportation issues are becoming more challenging: Spend $60 per week on gas or risk having a crazy man chase you with his penis on your way home from work? I think it’s time to take it back to the ole days and start walking.

How Could Anyone Vote Against That Mustache?

Check out these clips from the NY Gubernatorial debate; the candidate from the Rent Is Too Damn High Party provides some real gems.

“As a karate expert, I will not talk about anyone up here”. . .well, of course!

The guy’s a bit eccentric, clearly, but honestly it’s sort of refreshing to hear someone state things in such a direct way. The rent in NYC is too damn high, people can’t afford to live and feed their kids, and this guy represents that truth. Just, you know, oddly.

Fresh Meat: NYC Housing Erects Jail Themed Playground Equipment

Wow, talk about inappropriate – the New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA), which runs public housing in the city, has erected playground equipment marked “Jail” at the Thompson Houses in Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn.

More Diversity = More Profit

My friend recently interviewed for a job at a large economic firm in New York. While researching the company, he turns to me and says, “The CEO is a woman. Isn’t that weird?”

Rare? Perhaps. Weird? Absolutely not.

In fact, studies have shown that having more women in senior positions isn’t simply “fair,”  it is more profitable. According to studies conducted by Ernst & Young, Columbia University, McKinsey & Co, Goldman Sachs, and Pepperdine University, companies with more female senior members yield higher profits.  In fact, Pepperdine University found that Fortune 500 firms with women in charge profited 18 to 69 percent more than other companies.  In examining the top European companies, McKinsey found that more gender diversity led to higher stock performance. Similarly, “Catalyst, a research firm focused on women and business, found that Fortune 500 companies with three or more women in senior management positions score higher on top measures of organizational excellence. In addition, companies with three or more women on their boards outperformed the competition on all measures by at least 40 percent.”
