Young Man Killed by Taser on Ohio Campus

His friends described Everette Howard as the type of person who would always give “110 percent.” He was the captain of the football and wrestling teams, so I tend to think they are right, though I can’t say for sure.

When police respond to an assault call at 3 a.m. however, seeing 110 percent of someone’s energy coming at them can be rather threatening. It will always be the case that an officer’s primary concern is making it home. Everette, apparently, did not take that into consideration.

This was also not the first time that Everette was hit with a Taser. Obviously, he survived the first one, but this time he was not so fortunate. Understandably, there is a range of responses to this tragedy and much of it hinges on the use of the Taser. With all of the attention that has been given to police brutality lately, this could be a potential hot-button issue in a city that has witnessed its share of civil unrest in recent history. This matter seems to be one where the officer used reasonable means to calm down the situation (I almost can’t believe I just said that).

“I’ll Kill Every One of You” – Ohio Police Officer

It’s absolutely insane that police officers can regularly deny blatant misconduct when dealing with the public. This particular incident was caught on tape, so it’s going to be near impossible to dispute. This Ohio police officer was caught threatening to execute men that were pulled over on the evening of June 8, 2011.

This is the second episode that has put the officer under investigation for violating the code of conduct. After finding a firearm in a pulled-over car, the officer goes on a tirade.
You’ve got to see the video to believe it!

[Video] San Francisco Police Chief Greg Suhr Walks Out Of Community Forum On Police Brutality

July 21, 2011 Front Page No Comments

from sfbg.com:

A community meeting July 20 at the Bayview Opera House dissolved into chaotic shouting when Police Chief Greg Suhr attempted to present the San Francisco Police Department’s version of what transpired July 16 when a 19-year-old African American man was shot nine times by police and killed just blocks from where the meeting was held.

“On Saturday afternoon, two officers at the Bayview station … contacted a fare evader whose name ended up being Kenneth Wade Harding, Jr. of Seattle, Washington,” Suhr began. “After asking him for his identification, he became a little bit anxious, and at one point in time he jumped off the platform and ran across the street, and ran through crowded Mendell Plaza. I cannot tell you how badly that I feel … as captain of this station for two years. I love the Bayview community.”

At that point, angry shouts rose up and Suhr started getting booed, but he continued. “During this foot pursuit, at some point in time, the suspect … fired at the officers, and the officers returned fire. This is the account that we have so far.”

Milwaukee Takes Steps to Improve Cop and Community Relations

Is it just me, or does it seem like police brutality is on the rise? Did you see video of the young black man who was shot down in San Francisco last weekend? SMDH! Of course, it is nothing new.

Several years back, my hometown Milwaukee hit the national news when a young black man named Frank Jude was beat up by a gang of off-duty cops. Although the local police department fought hard for their officers, in the end, the community won justice in the court system. It didn’t hurt that more than 10,000 community residents took to the street to demand justice.

Since then, the City of Milwaukee has taken steps to improve community relations. It also didn’t hurt that there is a new DA and Chief of Police.
