Political Quick Hits: March 2nd Edition

Here’s your weekly quick look at few developing stories in the political arena:

  • In 2012 news, Mitt Romney won both the Arizona and Michigan Primaries on Tuesday night. Rick Santorum finished second in both and actually split the number of delegates in Michigan with Mitt Romney 16 to 14, since it was so close. Mitt Romney also won the Wyoming caucuses on Wednesday night. Attention now shifts to Washington state, which is the next primary on March 3. The next big primary day is when 10 states have primaries on March 6, which is known as Super Tuesday. We could either have a clearer picture of the 2012 Republican race after Super Tuesday or we will see that this is could be a long race between Mitt Romney and Rick Santorum.

Wiz Khalifa Tweets @ Me: Love Will Find a Way

When @realwizkhalifa tweeted at me to watch a video, I was very surprised. To be honest, I was expecting it to be one of two things: a spam message or a new club banger. However, I was absolutely wrong and the music video was about social justice and the lack of it. The video shared a story of the struggles of all people in society and the criminal acts that they encounter on a daily basis. However,  Lyrikill (the artist) has a solution to the problem: Love is the answer.

“Obama got Osama Bin, but our economy is rock bottom in … Should I vote or just say f@!# it? It’s like a President is just a puppet. One man can’t fix up all ‘em problems. Say all our prays hope  God will solve them … I look to the clouds to see a sign … Government and bank ties we see it… I believe love is the answer.”

President Obama Crooning Again

February 27, 2012 Front Page No Comments

It was exactly one month ago that we learned President Obama had strong windpipes and could hold a sound melody. He surprised the audience at the Apollo Theater by singing a verse of Al Green’s, “Let’s Stay Together.”

Last week, while attending a White House concert, President Obama was unexpectedly  handed  the microphone and asked to join music legends Mick Jagger and B.B. King to sing, “Sweet Home Chicago.”

Of course, the president who has strong ties to Chicago – he served as a community organizer, professor, and attorney – was happy to oblige the crowd and the musicians. The concert called “Red, White and Blues,” was timed to celebrate the final days of Black History Month.
