T.D.E. 1st Lady, ALORI JOH, Gone Too Soon! [12/16/86 - 2/8/12]

February 8, 2012 #ThatShitCray, Music 1 Comment

This morning I got word that Alori Joh passed away and like most people who knew of her work or knew her personally, I’m speechless. The lovely songstress was known most for her connection to T.D.E., the collective that houses talent such as Kendrick Lamar, Jay Rock, SchoolBoy Q and Ab-Soul.

I met her at the 2DopeBoyz BBQ in L.A. and upon introduction I expressed how beautiful her music was. We interacted on Twitter about upcoming music. While discovering her music for the first time, I’d reached out to her and bigged her up on the “Brazil” record with D Tonez.

If you ask me, she was well on her way. I don’t get how such a beautiful soul could leave so mysteriously. If the cause of death below is true, my mind will be a scattered puzzle for a while.

#NewMusic: Stalley “God’s Child”

February 6, 2012 Music 1 Comment

One of my lil homies killed himself this weekend and it had me kinda f*d up. He was always walking round talking bout God and his goodness and then just like that he loses his mind and commits suicide. I want to believe that even though he took matters in his own hands, he is favored and spared by God. Only God can be that judge though.

I’ve got a tattoo on my right arm that is reminiscent of the infamous “The Godfather” font and logo. It’s remixed to read.” God The Father.” When I saw this song title, “God’s Child” and began to listen to it, it reminded me of the relationship that I have with the same guy Stalley’s talking about. If you didn’t know, there’s a big man upstairs who’s been looking out since day 1, despite our lack of faithfulness. If haven’t already, I encourage you get to know em. Even Blu knows who God’s son is!

#NewMusic: Hassani Kwess “Kick The Bass, Chuck”

December 29, 2011 Featured Artist, Music No Comments

The DC native, Qaptain Kwess, is continuing his quest to make a name for himself, online and off. Just recently, he was featured on Asher Roth’s latest Pabst & Jazz project where he and Roth embraced the Chuck Inglish-produced melody.

Inglish speaks a language that only true artists can understand. Somewhat similar to ATCQ’s, Can I Kick It, Hassani Kwess gives the producer the permission before he asks. On this new record, Kwess talks back to Chuck creating a conversation called hip-hop. Kick the Bass, Chuck!

#NewMusic: Asher Roth x Hassani Kwess x Kenny Keys “Pabst & Jazz”

December 14, 2011 Featured Artist, Music 1 Comment

Asher’s Pabst & Jazz Sessions are a collection of tracks with features from Chuck Inglish of the Cool Kids and production duo Blended Babies. As far as I know, one track will leak from the sessions each day beginning this week on Asher’s social media outlets, with Pabst and Jazz Sessions being unleashed in full on December 20th.

Word to the homie Terrell – Asher’s proceeds from the tour will go to The Philadelphia Hunger Coalition.

I got the privilege to hold a Twitter conversation with our friend and featured artist for the #UnFuckDetroit project we’re releasing on 1.2.12. With all the focus being on the issues in Detroit, who better to describe the climate better than the homie FowL?
